Trustee’s Office holds Saturday hours on last day to pay property taxes

JONESBOROUGH – If the end of tax season has slipped up on you, the Washington County Trustee’s Office will be ready for you on Saturday, Feb. 27.

“Our office in the Historic Courthouse in Jonesborough will be open Saturday to take payments from 8 a.m. until noon for those who prefer to pay their property taxes in person,” said Rick Storey, Trustee for Washington County.

Only the Jonesborough Trustee’s Office will be open on the Feb. 27. The last day you can make payments at the Trustee’s Johnson City location, at 378 Marketplace Blvd., is Friday, Feb. 26 from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

“We are always very busy the last week of February with folks paying their property taxes at our windows or processing the payments received through the mail,” Storey said.  “As long as your property taxes are postmarked by the end of February, there is no penalty.”

For an additional fee, taxes can be paid online at www.washingtoncountytn.gov by clicking on “Online Services” and selecting “Pay Property Taxes” from the menu.

Partial payment of property taxes is an available option however, beginning March 1st any unpaid balance will be subject to 1.5% interest applied each month on the unpaid balance.
