David Stout was sworn in as the newest elected member of the Washington County Commission Monday, November 25. Stout was sworn in by County Court Clerk Chery Storey prior to the commission’s regular November session held at the George Jaynes Justice Center. Voters in District 9 elected Stout to the position in the November 5 general election. The seat was vacant following the passing of Commissioner Suzy Williams. The commission appointed Stout as an interim commissioner on September 23. He won election in a three-way contest for the seat.
He is a graduate of Carson Newman University and the Economic Development Institute-University of Oklahoma.
Stout is retired from United Telephone/Sprint-Division Manager. He was Director of Corporate Health Services for Mountain States Health Alliance for 15 Years.
He is a retired Major in the United State Army Reserve where he served for 22 years.
Stout has resided in District 9, along with his wife Mary, for over 30 years. They have two adult children and six grandchildren.
Stout serves on the Rules Committee and Employee Compensation and Benefits Committee.
