[ARCHIVED] Washington County Commissioner Jodi Jones Speaks to Local Civic Groups

In her interactive power point presentation called “Washington County 101,” Jones tests citizens’ knowledge of county government.  

“It’s a fun and interactive way to discuss a number of topics and, for citizens to learn how government operates,” said Jones, has spoken to the Tri-Cities Rotary Club, the ETSU Alliance for Continued Learning and the League of Women Voters. She has spoken to three other local Rotary Clubs as well.  

During the presentation Jones shows photos of various elected office holders and asks, “Who’s their boss?” often stumping the audience when they discover that they, as taxpayers, are frequently “the boss” to many office holders.  

“We make it a game and it makes you think,” said Jones. “I am delighted that so many people are interested in learning how local government operates.” 

Jones represents the Tree Streets neighborhood of Johnson City, District 11. She serves on numerous Commission committees and other boards that serve Washington County including: Beer Board, Communications Task Force, County Owned Property — Chair, Health, Education & Welfare — Chair, Johnson City Development Authority, JCDA TIF Advisory Board and the Washington County Board of Health.
