Committees: Commission— Chairman, EMS, Ethics, Employee Compensation & Benefits —Chair, Rules

Occupation: Director, Washington County Emergency Communications District for the past 5 years. Prior to that I was a Washington County Deputy for 24 years.

Personal: I am married to Erin and we have two children, Jonah, a senior at Daniel Boone High School and Sydney, a freshman at Daniel Boone High School. We attend Boones Creek Baptist Church. We enjoy traveling, especially to the beach, and we all like to fish.

What do you hope to accomplish on the commission? One of the greatest projects we’ve worked on is the new TCAT center (at the old Boones Creek Elementary School). It is part of Governor Lee’s funding for TCAT’s across the state. It will serve all Washington County students and it will be a great addition to the Elizabethton TCAT. Hopefully that will be up and running in the next year or two. It will be key to our workforce development.

I am excited to get the new Jonesborough school finished and open in January. That was a joint venture with the Washington County Commission, the County school board and the town of Jonesborough.

We continue work on getting water throughout the county. Prior to COVID, we commissioned a study that showed over 200 miles of county roads with no water. Now, with our own water crew for the county we are able to do county water line installation. These are really generational projects that will have to continue on after us.

We’ve been able to fund the equipment needs of the County fire departments. People need water. They need public safety, and they need highways and roads.
