With Veterans Day approaching, the Washington County Register of Deeds Office reminds local veterans to sign up for the ‘Thank a Veteran’ program in recognition of their service and sacrifices.

The initiative provides veterans with a photo ID card that allows them to obtain discounts at participating businesses in the county. To receive the card, veterans are encouraged to bring their DD214 discharge papers and a valid photo ID to the Register of Deeds Office. There is no cost to receive the card.

“I appreciate the sacrifices our veterans made to serve our country,” said Register of Deeds Teresa Bowman. “We live in a great country with many freedoms and rights, and we want to show our veterans how much we appreciate their service.”

For questions regarding the ‘Thank a Veteran’ program, citizens are urged to contact the Washington County Register of Deeds Office directly at 423-753-1644.
