Washington County commissioners, officials and staff from the George Jaynes Justice Center, the Historic Jonesborough Courthouse and the Sheriff’s Office teamed up for the fourth consecutive year to provide boxed food and canned goods to the Jonesborough Area Ministerial Association. This year, they collected more food than ever for donation.

“People were even more generous as we continue to recover from Hurricane Helene,” said Washington County Commissioner Ken Huffine. “This is the fourth year that we have held the food drive, and we were able to collect more food than ever to serve those less fortunate in our community. We are so appreciative of our elected officials and staff who serve Washington County citizens, for their willingness to make this drive the most successful to date.”

“It is very overwhelming to get this outpouring of support from County employees,” said Tim Winter, Treasurer of JAMA. “We are so grateful for the donations that help us serve 400-500 people each month who are fellow citizens of our community.” The Jonesborough Area Ministerial Association provides quality food items to households experiencing food insecurity. JAMA supplies critical nutrition to hungry individuals and families. For more information, please call JAMA at (423) 753-3942 and like them on Facebook.
