Washington County, Tenn. once again received one of Moody’s Investment Services highest ratings. The County was one of only 18 total counties in the State of Tennessee to receive the Aa2 rating. According to the Moody’s rating global scale,
“Obligations rated Aa2 are judged to be of high quality and are subject to very low credit risk.”
“It is an honor to be considered among the Tennessee counties that provide long term financial security for investors,” said Mayor Joe Grandy. “This is a credit to our County Commissioners who oversee the budget as well as the County Finance Director Mitch Meredith and his team who implement that budget day in and day out,” Grandy said.
Moody’s notes that Washington County’s median family income was approximately $59,000 in 2022 reflecting a steady, continuous growth in income year over year. Trends show year over year growth in Washington County household income of roughly 4%.
Moody’s rates on four areas: Finances; Debt and Pensions; Economy and Tax Base; and Management and Governance.
