Washington County/Johnson City Emergency Responders Recognized by Greene County Mayor

Kevin Morrison, the Mayor of Greene County recognized a team of Washington County first responders at the Washington County Commission meeting February 26. Morrison honored those who came to the immediate aid and assistance of neighboring Greene County during a December 20 emergency at a cheese plant there. Morrison said when emergency responders arrived on the scene, plant employees were “immobilized and gasping for breath” after a “catastrophic release of ammonia.” A total of 53 employees were treated and released from area hospitals.

Mayor Morrison read from a proclamation honoring those who responded. “I am eternally grateful to Washington County EMS and EMA for coming to our aid in our time of need. Their mutual aid helped us cover our 622 square miles.”
