If you've been around Washington County and don't know any musicians, you may need to get out more. Long known along with the rest of the Southern Appalachian region for its connection to Bluegrass, Old-Time Country and other traditional forms of music, Washington County has a vibrant music scene that encompasses a broad range of musical styles.
A Variety of Music
From the Johnson City Symphony Orchestra and the nation's first accredited college Bluegrass program (yes, you can earn a bachelor's degree with your banjo here) at East Tennessee State University to venues featuring rock, jazz and any other style imaginable, the county offers no shortage of music, whether you're a player or just like to listen.
Music on the Square
Music on the Square occurs Friday evenings in downtown Jonesborough, April through October.
The Down Home
The Down Home in Johnson City has welcomed many talented musicians over the past 35 years.
